Jomsom Muktinath Trekking Information
The Jomsom Muktinath trek is probably the single most popular trek in Nepal. The diverse landscapes and cultures to be found along the trek route give a marvellous insight into the way of life of rural Nepalese people. The route to Jomsom up the Kaligandaki River passes through a gap in the Himalayan barrier in the bottom of the deepest river canyon in the world. The valley of the Kaligandaki River that runs between Dhaulagiri and Annapurna Mountain is very beautiful. It offers good views of the mountains with spectacular and varied scenery on the way. The abrupt variation in altitude found here is astonishing.
Normally trekkers continue on above Jomsom to Muktinath, the famous pilgrimage site for both Buddhists and Hindus. The people of this part of Nepal are a mixture of Gurung and Magar in the lower stretches of the Kali Gandaki, Thakali people around Jomsom and people obvious Tibetan roots, the Loba around Muktinath. Their customs and dress are all quite distinct and this trek gives a chance to see those differences.
Jomsom Muktinath trek give you unique experience to see mountains at your back, in other treks you normally see the mountains in front of you. Moreover, during Jomsom Muktinath trek you will enchanted by the naturally decorated landscapes of mustang region. When you reach to Muktinath temple you will feel heartily sacred because holiest Hindu and Buddhist temple offers many things to you. In Muktinath temple premises beside the main temple of Muktinath devoted to Hindu god Vishnu you will see the two ponds which are called Mukti kunda named Laxmi and Saraswoti kunda. Hindu people believe that if they take holy bath in these kunda they will get ultimate salvation. Mukti Dhara, 108 waterspouts which are established beside the Muktinath temple in the shape of cows head. The water from Kaligandaki River continuously flowing through the mouth of the cows head shaped waterspouts. Hindu pilgrims who visit the temple take a holy bath in each of these spouts in order to get ultimate salvation. Jawala mai temple which have three eternal flames from the rock fed by the natural gas. You will also see Buddhist Gompa, monastery and Mani walls there.
There are lots of options for Jomsom Muktinath trek, you can start this trek from Nayapul and reach to Muktinath through Ghorepani, Tatopani, Ghasa, Jomsom and Kagbeni. Similarly, you can take flight from Pokhara to Jomsom and start trek from Jomsom and you can return via Tatopani, Ghorepani route. Moreover, if you want to long and adventurous journey in the Annapurna region you can combine Jomsom Muktinath trek with Annapurna circuit trek. Day 01: Arrive international airport in Kathmandu and free transport to selected hotel at Thamel, The hotel is centrally located in the Thamel area of Kathmandu which is renowned for its many restaurants, shops, bars, and nightclubs etc which cater for the tourists.
Day 02: Kathmandu Valley full day sightseeing with professional tour guide.
Day 03: Drive to Pokhara by tourist Bus at 7:00AM (200 km. 6/7 hours driving) and stay over night at selected hotel near by lake side.
Day 04: Take breakfast in the morning and then drive to Nayapul by local bus (2 hours driving) and then trek to Tirkhedhunga (1520 m. 3 ½ hours walking) stay over night at Lodge.
Day 05: Trek to Ghorepani (2853 m. 7/8 hours walking) and stay over night at Lodge.
Day 06: Visit to Poon Hill early in the morning (3210 m. 45 minutes walking) for the best sunrise view and the magnificent Annapurna ranges then back to Ghorepani. Take breakfast and then trek to Tatopani (1120 m. 7 hours walking) stay over night at Lodge.
Day 07: Trek to Tatopani (1080 m. 6 / 7 hours walking) stay over night at Lodge.
Day 08: Trek to Ghasa (2450 m. 5/6 hours walking) stay over night at Lodge.
Day 09: Trek to Tukuche (2732 m. 6 hours walking) stay over night at Lodge.
Day 10: Trek to Jomsom (3 hours walking) stay over night at Lodge.
Day 11: Trek to Kagbeni (2980 m. 3 hours walking) stay over night at Lodge.
Day 12: Trek to Muktinath (3940 m. 4 hours walking) stay over night at Lodge.
Day 13: Trek down to Jomsom (2728 m. 5 hours walking) stay over night at Lodge.
Day 14: Fly back to Pokhara (25 minutes flight) and stay over night at selected hotel near by lake. Rest of the day individual activities.
Day 15: Drive back to Kathmandu by tourist bus at 07:30AM (200 km. 6/7 hours driving) and stay over night at selected hotel in Kathmandu,
Day 16: Departure to international airport to fly to your home country. I will provide you free transport to international tribhuwan airport,
